MAKING THE WORLD WORK: MY VISION - ED ROSENFELD
THERE IS ENOUGH TO GO AROUND
Talking about life here, on spaceship Earth, Bucky Fuller said that Malthus was wrong: there is enough to go around. Though there are distribution problems as well as terrible political and economic issues, we can make the world work. What Bucky said he wanted was to:
“Make the world work, for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation, without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone.”
What will be important will be to communicate the facts that the world can work; make plans for how to make the world work; and, then, take actions to make the world work. Let’s make the world work: let’s do it now.
The World Can Work
“The size of your dreams must always exceed
your current capacity to achieve them.
If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.”
“The goal of the future is full unemployment,
so we can play. That’s why we have to destroy
the present politico-economic system”
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed, citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
War and Peace in the Global Village.
“Even in the darkest of times we have the right
to expect some illumination.”
“Our leaders show a disquieting complacency in their acceptance of the ruthlessness and a disquieting unwillingness to refer their acts to any guiding principles.”
“Nothing less than everything will do. We have to develop on all fronts. Nothing less than everything will do if we’re going to attack the big human problems. We need to throw everything at it.”
The Earth’s great koan: How come the world doesn’t work?
